I love the newness of spring! Everything old has given away to bright green shoots of new. The fresh spring colors are bright and vibrant against the slowly warming, cold, brown earth. Bits of yellow, red and pink of budding flowers peek through new leaves. I enjoy seeing fresh budding flowers making their way up towards the warming sun. The weather warm, with a gentle breeze, brings a peaceful awareness, as song birds sing from their branches.
When I created this painting, spring had begun and spring flowers were in full bloom. As I began to blend the green, yellow, red and white paints together, knowingly moving the palette knife into the paint, I felt a burst of energy, just as spring bursts forth with new life. My knives give texture to this painting in many ways. Strong definitive strokes, short barely visible strokes as well as patterns fill the background and move through the layers of rich acrylic paint.
