Change is often difficult and I have had a lot of changes in my life, especially in the past 18 months. Some really difficult changes and some extremely wonderful changes!
As I created this abstract, the bright colors are very intense and I began to see something but at the time, I did not know what would finally emerge upon completion. Deep blues for the textured background lay the ground work for the vibrancy of the orange and yellow to pop. Adding a little aqua for highlights, I began to see a deep blue sea emerge. The flowing of the orange and yellow gave a hint of an exploding phoenix in my imagination. Yet, the more I studied the abstract, the more I realized that it was not the destruction of the phoenix I could see but the rebirth and renewal of the phoenix as it arose to start its life once again.
This abstract ships framed with deep, richly painted black sides and a bright white front (not shown in images). The abstract is signed, titled and dated on the back and ships with a Certificate of Authenticity. By signing the painting on the back this allows the painting’s orientation to be rotated in any one of four directions as desired. This textured alla prima, acrylic abstract is painted on stretched canvas, with palette knives, and a gloss varnish was added upon completion, conveying a state of wetness. Canvas measures 11″ x 14″ in size.
