While creating this fifth abstract, I began to see waves forming.
Wanting to do something a bit different with my abstracts in this series, I decided to explore the color blue and its many different shades, thus my water series was born. Simultaneously, I felt the need to push myself, exploring my abstracts on a different substrate from stretched canvases. Cradled birch wood painting panels were chosen for its strength and beauty. Each abstract in this series is connected to water either by terminology, aquatic life, wave forms or the shades of blue associated with water.
Each abstract in this series is painted on a bright white background, either smooth or textured, and has deep, richly painted black sides. A gloss varnish was added upon completion, conveying a state of wetness. Each abstract is signed, titled and dated on the back and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. By signing the painting on the back this allows the painting’s orientation to be rotated in any one of four directions as desired. This series contains 5 alla prima, acrylic abstracts painted on superior solid birch wood cradled frames, (not plywood), with palette knives. Each measures 18″ x 24″ x 1-1/2″ in size.
